Elaine Mckenzie - An integratively trained counsellor and psychotherapist. An accredited Member of the UK Council of Psychotherapy.

What do I do?

I "counsel" within an alliance built upon trust, I empathise with respect in a non judgemental way, explore the development of your thinking patterns and look into the events of childhood that may be influencing your life negatively in the present.

Working to effect change I am able to "hold you" in the counselling process, supporting you with such transitions that can be difficult and emotionally painful, journeying towards your goals and finding fulfillment - the answers lie within, we can make the discovery..

I feel it is important, therefore, to meet for an initial consultation to assess your individual needs. (The consultation fee is £25. ) In this first meeting we can talk about your reasons for coming and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable with me "the client/counsellor fit" is essential..

I cannot offer "an easier softer way", but what I can offer is a supportive and safe place where we can explore feelings and take part in what Freud called "a talking cure".

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I maintain confidentiality by working within this framework, I do however, make brief notes after a session, these are shared with my Clinical Supervisor, also an ethical requirement, your anonymity is assured. The notes are securely stored. (Please ask questions).
